Quick Tip: Laser Dry-Fire Training Tools
Today, Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant tackles a "dry" subject. At least, it's an interesting one: devices from Mantis X and LaserLyte that help you with your dry-fire practice. Dry-fire training, operating your firearm without firing live rounds, is a great way to build your muscle memory for basic marksmanship skills. If you take the necessary safety precautions, you can do it at home without having to go to the range. One problem: simple dry-fire doesn't give you feedback on how well you're "shooting," and you may even develop some bad habits.
Laser training devices are a great help in seeing where your "shots" are landing. For you AR-15 shooters, the Blackbeard laser unit by Mantis X replaces your AR-15's bolt-carrier group, magazine, and charging handle. Each time you squeeze the trigger, it projects the laser's dot on the target AND resets the trigger for the next shot.
Laser Lyte offers laser projection units that fit right into your firearm's chamber like a cartridge. You can project the laser dot on a simple paper target on the wall OR use LaserLyte's reactive Score Tyme target. The Score Tyme RECORDS where the laser dot hits the target's surface and tracks your score. Caleb uses his trusty SIG P226 to give us a demonstration. A fun way to build your marksmanship skills and save on the cost of ammo!
