Daily Defense 1-25: An EDC Plan for the Whole Family
So far Jeff's told us a lot about EDC - every day carry of a firearm and other essentials for an individual's personal defense. What about the bigger picture, your family? Jeff's advice is to prepare for emergencies, large and small, by managing with the equipment you can have on hand in the car for a day trip. A larger first aid kit is a good idea, one that can handle a larger array of injuries than a small personal kit, as well as a "boo-boo" kit (band-aids, sunscreen, insect repellent). Carry an extra set of clothes for everybody. Where there are kids, there are "oopses" that mess up clothes! Also pack spare essentials such as cash, medicines, and copies of important documents, PLUS enough water and food to get you through a disruption of normal activities lasting up to 72 hours. Families that are really serious about EDC carry enough gear to last a week. But it's not a camping trip! You just need some basics you can carry in the trunk of your vehicle.
