Daily Defense 2-1: The Real Meaning of "Concealment"
Jeff is back for a whole new season of Daily Defense, and to kick off the new series, he talks about the real purpose of concealed carry. He's often said in earlier videos that every day carry (EDC) is about more than just getting a gun and carrying it under your shirt. The purpose of concealing the gun is to conceal your intentions AND capabilities from a potential attacker. You're not so worried about your family or friends knowing you're carrying a gun. But when a violent criminal actor is assessing you as a potential victim, you don't want to disclose to that person what you're equipped to do. Criminals are very adept at spotting firearms and people who are prepared to defend themselves vigorously. The element of surprise is the "ace up your sleeve" that gives you an extra advantage by keeping your defensive capabilities concealed until the very last moment. That's why it's important to be COMFORTABLE carrying a gun- so you're not unconsciously touching it, checking it, or repositioning it, which will disclose that you're carrying just as much as its "printing" through your clothing will. It's important to get comfortable with carrying a concealed firearm on a daily basis, but it's just as important to conceal your intentions and capabilities.
