Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant gives us a close-up look at an excellent "stock option," the Midwest Industries Alpha Series Folding Stock. The Alpha mounts to a rifle with an M1913 Picatinny stock rail on the rear of the receiver, so it's perfect for your SIG Sauer MCX, AK-47 / Kalashnikov, or a Brownells BRN-180 lower receiver. It is a stock, so if you want to mount it on a firearm with a barrel that's less than 16" long, you'll need to follow all the NFA rules. From a resemblance-and-functionality standpoint, the Alpha looks a lot like an improved version of the old Zenit PT-1 telescoping stock for the AK platform.
The Alpha's robust steel folding mechanism is the same one Midwest has been using on other folding stocks. It works like a dream, so why change it? You can install this mechanism so the stock folds to the left OR the right side of the receiver, your choice. Now, what's going on with the stock itself?
At the front end (closest to the receiver), the Alpha Folding Stock has QD sling swivel sockets on both sides. A checkered pushbutton just behind the swivel sockets easily unlocks the stock so you can adjust the length-of-pull. The stock itself is made of aluminum, while the height-adjustable cheek rest is lightweight polymer. Loosen the pair of knurled knobs so you can change the cheek rest height, then tighten the knobs when the rest is exactly where you want it. The buttplate is covered by a soft rubber recoil pad that is replaceable. The buttplate is also adjustable for height, so when you shoulder the rifle, it'll be positioned with your head lined up perfectly behind your optic.
