Caleb takes a break from his AR-15 evangelism to show us the delightfully deceptive FFT Rifle Stock for the Remington 700 by Christensen Arms. "Deceptive" because Christensen's Flash Forged Technology produces an uncommonly lightweight carbon fiber stock. How lightweight? Think of a typical modern carbon fiber stock, then subtract one POUND (1 lb.) from its weight! The FFT Stock is so light that when it arrived Caleb thought the Christensen folks had accidentally shipped him an empty box. Nope, there's an awesome rifle stock in there that weighs only about 18 oz. The box actually weighed more than the stock inside!
This is one of the few times we can't convey the essence of a product on camera. You have to hold one in your hands to appreciate the value of the FFT stock to anybody who wants to build a very lightweight rifle on the Remington 700 footprint. The FFT stock is the perfect match for one of the Christensen Arms barreled actions. Since those actions come with carbon fiber barrels, you can build one insanely lightweight rifle!
Despite its nearly unbearable lightness of being, the FFT Stock is surprisingly sturdy and rigid. It even comes with bedding pillars already built into it. Available for short action (SA) and long action (LA) Remington 700 actions and clones.
