KDG is known for their innovative approach to firearm accessories, particularly in the SCAR market. The Origins of Kinetic Development Group
Caleb: Stephen, thanks for coming out.
Stephen: Absolutely, it's great to be here.
Caleb: So, Stephen, let's start with the basics. Who is Kinetic Development Group, and how did you guys get started?
Stephen: KDG started around 2015, initially focusing on the SCAR market. We quickly realized that we could manufacture high-quality parts and that there was a demand for innovative solutions in the firearms industry. What began with SCAR parts has since expanded, and while I can't reveal all the details yet, we have some exciting developments on the horizon.
Expanding Beyond the SCAR Market
Caleb: It sounds like you guys have grown significantly since those early days. Can you tell us more about the areas you're focusing on now?
Stephen: Absolutely. While we started with SCAR, KDG is much more than that now. We’ve developed proprietary technology for a truly quick-detach (QD) optics mount and a QD system for M-LOK. These are just a couple of examples of how we're expanding our offerings. We're also looking to move into new markets and continue developing partnerships with brands like Brownells. It's important to us to build strong relationships, almost like a family atmosphere, where we all support each other.
The Importance of In-House Manufacturing
Caleb: One thing that really stands out to me is that the owners of KDG are directly involved in the manufacturing and design process. That’s pretty unique, right?
Stephen: It is. Currently, there are three owners at KDG, and all of us have our own machine shops. This means we don’t just design our own parts; we also manufacture them ourselves. We can also do OEM work, which gives us a unique perspective on the market. We look for voids that we can fill with high-quality products or areas where we can improve on what others have done. Our slogan, "Gain the Advantage," reflects our commitment to providing the best value and performance for our customers.
What Sets KDG Apart
Caleb: It's great to hear that you’re so hands-on with the process. From what I’ve seen, KDG products are known for their quality and innovation. What do you think sets you apart from other companies in the industry?
Stephen: I think our ability to see opportunities where others don’t and our commitment to doing things right sets us apart. For example, with our HK RA products, we noticed that others had tried similar things, but we believed we could do it better. And that’s what we did. We’re always looking to give our customers the best value and the best experience with our products.
Looking Ahead
Caleb: It’s clear that you guys are always pushing forward and looking for ways to innovate. What can we expect from KDG in the future?
Stephen: Without giving too much away, I can say that we're definitely growing and moving into new markets. We have some exciting products in development that we believe will continue to set us apart in the industry. We’re also focused on strengthening our partnerships with brands like Brownells, as these relationships are vital to our success.
