Works well for Novak sights
I purchased this file to fit Novak sights on a S&W M&P and Springfield Garrison 1911 which both are cut for a 65 degree dovetail. The fine grit worked well while taking my time to check the fit every few strokes. I'm by no means a gunsmith, however as an enthusiast, this file made the job very easy and less prone to making an error and ruining the sights.
best file
This is the best file you can use to hand fit a pistol sight or anything that has a 65 degree cut.

Very Useful file !!
Haven't used this long enough to rank its durability but It makes quick work of "cleaning up" dovetails.
Right tool for the Job
Bought the file to install adjustable sights on a 1911. Very easy to use. Makes clean cuts snd has safe sides. I recommend this file for sight installation in specific applications.
Use for Hand Fitting
This is a must when cutting dovetails for handgun sights. While the cutter will get you close this file will perform the finally hand fitting that is needed. I used to fit Novak sights on a HiPower.
Finish File for Sight fitting set
Purchased to work on Novak machined new remington r1 slide. On previous TCM job used 65 degree tri-file with electrical tape on adjacent surface, but used a lot of tape and file was a little too rough, requiring a LOT of finer sanding with 180 grit emery cloth. This file with it's finer, single surface file provides just the right fit.
A KIMBER MUST HAVE
Without this 65 degree file you cannot successfully replace Novak style sights on any Kimber I've worked on. It has a single cutting edge so you don't have to worry about cutting into the floor of the dovetail and with slow, straight, careful strokes this file will gradually open the original Kimber sight extremely tight dovetails. Yes this Italy made file is pricey but there is only one 65 degree file manufacturer that I could find anywhere and only one supplier so it's a very tight, or low, demand market and Brownells is the only place to find one.
Right file for the job.
I needed a file to make a dovetail in the slot for a red ramp and this one did a excellent job. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
