What is the ARISAKA DEFENSE - M-LOK Finger Stop Aluminum Black?

The Arisaka M-LOK Finger Stop was developed as a low profile, minimal control accessory. Unlike a hand stop, which most people position at the rear of their support hand, the Finger Stop has a rounded profile which is ergonomically designed to be located between your index and middle fingers. This typically places it further forward on the handguard, which also means it doesn't get in the way when transitioning to kneeling or prone shooting positions, where most people move their support hand towards the rear. Additionally, the Finger Stop functions well as a forward limit to prevent your hand from slipping off shorter handguards onto a hot barrel or suppressor, and as a barricade rest. The Finger Stop is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and type III hard coat anodized. Fits standard M-Lok handguards.

Awesome
This is a great addition to any short barrel rifle where you want a point of reference as to where to stop your hand so you don't reach too far out. It's small and light. Fits perfect. Brownells should carry more of Arisaka's products.

Use as a positioning aid instead of stop
Seems well made, easy to install. I installed this on a DD M4 PDW braced pistol. Luckily I was able to position it exactly where I needed it in order to use as an index finger positioning / grip aid on a very short barrel. I still use the barrier stop/hand stop that came with the gun from DD, in the original position for exactly those two purposes. Due to the short barrel on this gun, I grip at the front of the magwell, with my index finger wrapped around the Arisaka stop. This gives me a fast, blind, positioning aid for grip and insuring my thumb is where it needs to be to activate my light pressure switch, as well as providing extra gripping surface and control to pull the gun to my shoulder. It is big enough to function this way, and small enough to NOT get in the way, all while NOT being a vertical grip which is not legal on a braced pistol. The only thing keeping me from going 5 star is the price. A bit steep for what it is, but the quality is there at least.

Solid
Solid, simple part with good functionality, with excellent construction and finish that'll take a beating. I personally feel that this is best used with guns with long (12+ inch) rails, especially for those who like to grip further out on the rail. It's easily usable and comfortable up to the middle, maybe ring finger if you have small-medium hands; add the pinky and you're probably better off with a handstop/AFG-type grip. It offers enough surface and purchase for you to push the gun more into your shoulder vs. just a bare-handguard/rail type grip. Would be great on sleek, lightweight, or minimalist type builds.
