Quick Tip How To Choose the Right Shooting Gloves

Quick Tip: How To Choose the Right Shooting Gloves

If you live up in the northern latitudes, like we do at Brownells, sooner or later you're going need to operate a firearm outdoors in the winter. So you're going to need gloves, and Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb has some tips for us on how to choose good shooting gloves. He has some Old School tactical gloves by Blackhawk that he wore every day while serving as a .50 cal. gunner in Afghanistan. These Blackhawk gloves are designed for combat, so they have extra padding and hard polymer knuckle protectors, and they're pretty bulky. For everyday shooting, Magpul® offers some excellent shooting gloves that are way less bulky but still provide good protection for your hands. They fit snug on the hand, so you have plenty of dexterity while wearing them. Caleb wants shooting gloves that fit as tightly as possible WITHOUT impeding his ability to flex his fingers freely. He happens to have a SIG P226 in a Safariland holster with the ALS locking system. What happens when draws the 226 while wearing the Magpul gloves? How easily can he operate the controls of his AR-15? Watch! It pays to have dedicated shooting gloves, and it also pays to try them on before buying if you can.
