Should I Buy a Gun?

The videos on this channel are usually geared toward viewers who already own a firearm, but today our guest host Tes Salb talks to folks who don't own a gun yet but are thinking of getting one. Owning a firearm is your right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, just like your right to free speech. Not everybody may exercise this right or want you to exercise it, but it's yours nonetheless. HALF of all adults in the United Stated own a gun (100 million gun owners, 209 million adults). And 36% of the adults who don't own a gun think they might get one in the future. The most common reason for buying a firearm is personal defense. More and more Americans are realizing that the police may not arrive in time to protect them from a threat, and they need to take responsibility for their own safety. Before you purchase your first firearm, learn how to handle a gun safely and store it properly. Friends or relatives who already own a gun can help you with this, or you can tap into online resources, your local gun store, and this YouTube channel, as well as the Brownells website. WARNING: Never attempt to disassemble or reassemble a firearm unless you are absolutely certain that it is empty and unloaded. Visually inspect the chamber, the magazine and firing mechanism to be absolutely certain that no ammunition remains in the firearm. Disassembly and reassembly should follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
