New Product: Hornady 6mm ARC

No, it's not Thursday, but today Paul Levy is announcing an exciting new product: the 6mm ARC cartridge from Hornady. The 6mm "Advanced Rifle Cartridge" has a 1,000-yard effective range AND it fits the standard AR-15 platform. No need to upgrade to an AR-308 sized rifle to reach that far! As a bonus, the 6mm ARC's plump, squat case profile is similar to one of the most accurate benchrest target rounds of all time, the 6mm PPC. The 6mm ARC has a 6.5mm Grendel case necked down for the smaller bullet, so it uses a 6.5 Grendel bolt and magazines. If you already have a rifle in 6.5 Grendel, you just need to swap out your barrel, and you're ready to shoot 6mm ARC. Handloaders take note: bullets that work well in the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge will also work well in 6mm ARC. At launch, Hornady is offering two factory loads: a 108 grain ELD® Match and a 105 grain Black load. Both Faxon and Ballistic Advantage are producing barrels. And 6mm ARC is a SAAMI spec cartridge, so plenty more ammo, barrels, and complete uppers will come along soon.

WARNING: Never attempt to disassemble or reassemble a firearm unless you are absolutely certain that it is empty and unloaded. Visually inspect the chamber, the magazine and firing mechanism to be absolutely certain that no ammunition remains in the firearm. Disassembly and reassembly should follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
