Brownells new product team leader Paul Levy is back with some nice Valentines for our viewers, starting with the new Vortex SPARC Solar red dot sight. This SPARC is kind of like Mom's Prius because it's a hybrid: it can be powered by the solar panel on top OR the internal battery for up to 50,000 hours. Comes with its own riser mount, and it's compatible with Aimpoint T-1 mounts, so there's a TON of mounting options for your SPARC Solar. It can be set for motion activation: pick up your rifle, and the movement turns on your Solar. Also from Vortex, Paul has the Spitfire HD Gen II illuminated reticle prism sight. Unlike a lot of earlier prism sights, the Spitfire is compact. You can mount a Vortex red dot ON TOP of it, so you have magnified and non-magnified sighting solutions available simply by moving your eyes. The Spitfire also comes with a T-1 pattern mount. There's a new cartridge in AR-15 World called the "9x39". It's a 7.62x39mm necked up to 9mm and loaded to sub-sonic velocities. The 9x39 has been around a while in the AK fraternity, but now with a D&H Tactical steel 9x39mm magazine, you can shoot it from an AR-15, too (after swapping bolt and barrel, of course). D&H designed their 20-round mag from the ground up for this cartridge, not a lash-up of an AR-15 mag, so it's built to run right.
WARNING: Never attempt to disassemble or reassemble a firearm unless you are absolutely certain that it is empty and unloaded. Visually inspect the chamber, the magazine and firing mechanism to be absolutely certain that no ammunition remains in the firearm. Disassembly and reassembly should follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
