I dug my Mossberg 1000, semi-auto shotgun out of the gun safe and ran into one heck of a surprise at the range.

This month I’m going to have a little fun with the shotgun I’ve been working on since April. I’ve taken the old gun apart, cleaned all of the parts thoroughly, stripped the finish off of the stock and forend.

This month, I’m getting back to work on the 12 gauge restoration project that I started a few months ago.

In last month’s installment, I spent the better part of a Saturday afternoon stripping the finish off of the stock and forend of the old Squires Bingham shotgun I bought in April.

This has been a busy month! As dad said in his intro, we just got back from my youngest brother’s wedding in Colorado a few days ago.

Back in April I wrote about an old Squires Bingham 12 Gauge shotgun I’d picked up in a pawnshop for a good price. Being old, beat up, and absolutely filthy, it had the potential for being a good “project gun” for my Beginner’s Bench series in which I’m trying to learn a little about gunsmithing.
