The Golden Mean by Speedy Gonzalez
Consistent accuracy is what all shooters are ultimately looking for when hunting or target shooting.
I suppose it’s only fair to tell you that after all of the parts were polished and ready that I was a little apprehensive about the next step.
In the last episode, I installed a rifled liner into a well-worn Marlin and was able to get it shooting again. Now the groups it shoots are beautiful to look at.
Got a great old gun that you’d love to shoot if only the rifling was in better shape™ I have an 1889 Marlin lever gun in .38-40 that has seen better days, to put it mildly.
It seems that one of the most common magazine tube problems that come across our desks in the Tech Department are those pesky Marlin/Glenfield Model 60 inner magazine tubes.
This month we’re going to show you how to re-barrel a Savage Model 110 bolt action rifle; one of the easier rifles to re-barrel.
Last time, we bedded the gun, shot it a bit, and then talked about the Manson tooling.
Last month we did some shooting, bedded the action into the stock and did some more shooting. This month, we’ll start out with a trigger adjustment, shoot a bit more, then explain what we’re going to do next and introduce the Dave Manson tooling we’ll use to fully accurize the action.
Last month we built our own Remington 700 from parts and tools all available here at Brownells. It was a lot easier to complete than I had anticipated.
Brownells has recently been informed by ATK Alliant Techsystems that converting .22 caliber rimfire semi-automatic firearms to the new Hornady .17 Mach 2 caliber could result in premature exposure of the fired cartridge resulting in potential serious injury.
Building your own custom rifle has always seemed too far beyond the skills of the average Joe. But with a lot of patience, a little skill and some guidance from Brownells you'll learn how to build a custom Remington 700.
