Basic Application Instructions for New or Stripped Clean & Dry Wood
Instructions for Brownells Surface Hardening Compound
I recently purchased a Remington 870 at a local gun show. It had been well maintained, but with every gun that sees a lot of use, there were some wear marks and imperfections that detracted from its appearance.
Dicro-Clean No. 909 is designed for use by the gunsmith to properly clean firearms prior to the bluing or parkerizing operation. It may be used in any welded steel tank, heated by gas burners, steam coils or electric heat element immersion units.
This heavy duty, industrial quality tool is designed to quickly and easily true the face of muslin or felt buffing wheels. The Wheel Rake can be used either in the initial preparation of the wheel face prior to the application of polish, or later to remove any imperfections or uneven worn areas.
Brownells Room Temperature Nickel Stripper is an immersion-process chemical stripper developed to remove both electrolytic and electroless nickel plating from steel, copper, and copper alloys. The process is safe, simple, and requires no heat, agitation, or electrical hookups.
Coarse, matte finishes have become popular for tactical and utility firearms because they require less attention to external wear and are fast and easy to produce using high-pressure (100+ psi) abrasive blasting. The combination of coarse grit and higher pressures requires increased protection to prevent unwanted abrasive damage.
Prior to bluing or the application of a bake on coating, a steel surface must be properly prepared. In either case, at a minimum the work piece must be thoroughly and completely degreased.
