This video showcases the Picatinny Scope Base by Brownells.
Far and away, the most modified bolt action rifle is the venerable Model 98 Mauser. Not that the design had any deficiencies as a military rifle, but if you want to attach a scope, the straight bolt handle needs some alteration for easier operation and scope clearance.
Alterations of rifle bolts should be done with great care, especially if
intense heat is used for welding, soldering, or brazing. The heat treatment
of the locking lugs as well as other critical areas of the bolt such as the
cocking cam must not be altered.
The factory instruction sheet provided with this trigger uses an awkward
translation of the original Austrian instructions into English. These
notes are to supplement the translation by providing a further translation
into idiomatic English.
Brownells Mauser '98 Guard Screw Counterbore is designed for use when
military triggerguards are used in building sporter rifles and it is desired
to weld up the issue guard screw, lock screw counterbores for cosmetic reasons.
Brownells Mauser Bolt Shrouds are intended to replace the military
bolt shrouds on Model 98 and Swedish Model 96 (including the M-38)
type military rifles. Some commercial variations of the Mauser 98 had
bolt shrouds equipped with a safety, and the M-98 replacement Shroud
can also be used on these actions.
The Military Large and Small Ring Mauser Rifles, Models 91 through
98 utilize a front sight dovetail that is unique to those rifles. Quite often,
military surplus rifles will require replacement of the front sight due to
wear and abuse or inability to zero the rifle with the existing front sight.
Brownells Bolt Forging Blocks give the gunsmith an alternative to welding
new handles on Mauser rifle bolts when sporterizing them. For the gunsmith
without advanced welding skills, but who has access to oxy-acetylene
welding equipment, this is a relatively simple process.
