My .22 rimfire rifle has a bulge in the bore about four inches from the muzzle. Should I replace this barrel?

Not necessarily. First go to the range and do some shooting from a rest. You may find that your rifle shoots just as well as ever. A bulge in the bore will not always ruin the accuracy of a rifle. However, if your accuracy has suffered, either replace the barrel or have it lined.
