When installing a barrel in a receiver, is it necessary to put any lubricant on the barrel threads?

Yes, you should lube the threads to prevent galling and possible damage to the barrel and receiver threads. We strongly recommend the use of Brownells Barrel Assembly Paste, #083-050-100.
