I have a Russian Tokarev Model 1940 in 7.62 x 54R. My problem is that I can not get a cartridge to seat in the chamber. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

The rim, or head, of a cartridge case has probably been pulled off leaving the rest of the case stuck in the chamber. This was a common problem on both the Models 1938 and 1940 and prevents subsequent rounds from seating properly in the chamber. Check the chamber carefully. There is probably part of an old cartridge case stuck in the chamber. Remove it and you should be able to chamber a round.
