You can resolve most issues viewing our site by following the basic steps below.

Step 1 – Identify your browser (skip to Step 2 if you already know what browser you are using) If you are unsure what browser you are using, click the link below to determine the type of browser you are using. Once you have found out your browser, click the back button to come back to this page. http://www.my-browser.net/

 Step 2Clear your browsing temporary files and cookies. Go to the heading for the browser you have, and follow the steps. Internet Explorer 9 and 8

  1. Click Tools, and select Delete Browsing History
     
     
  2. Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History.
     
     
  3. Click Delete

  1. From the tools menu in the upper right, select Delete Browsing History.
     
     
  2. To delete your cache, click Delete files.


    To delete your cookies, click Delete cookies.
    To delete your history, Click Delete history.
     
  3. Click Close and then click Ok to exit.

Firefox 3.5 and above for Windows

  1. From the top left, click the orange Firefox button and then select Recent History from the History menu. For older versions, you can find this option under the "Tools" menu.

     
  2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything
     
     
  3. Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear (e.g. check Cookies to clear cookies). Click Clear Now.

Firefox 3 for Windows

  1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History, and then select the items you want to delete (as above).
  2. Click Clear Recent History

Chrome

  1. In the browser bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
     
     
  2. Select the items you want to clear (e.g. Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data).


    From the "Obliterate the following items from" drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select the beginning of time.
     
  3. Click Clear browsing data.

Saved Carts

Step 1:  Create an account or login to your existing account. Login or create an account
 

Step 2:  Browse our site and add the items you’re interested in saving to your Shopping Cart.

Step 3:  Once all the products you wish to save have been added, select View Cart View Cart in top right corner.
 

Step 4:  After reviewing the items in your Shopping Cart you may then save your cart by clicking the Save Cart button.

Step 5:  Enter a new Folder Name and Cart Name you wish to have this cart saved under or, select an existing Folder and Cart to save these products to.  You can also create a new cart to save within an existing folder by select the Folder and entering a New Cart name.

Step 6:  View your Account to see your Saved Carts by selecting the Account link on the top.

Managing Your Existing Saved Carts

To manage your Saved Carts select the Saved Carts tab in your Account section.

Here you’ll see your existing cart.  To view a Saved Cart click on the folder you wish to view and select a Cart from the dropdown menu.  By selecting the drop down the items saved to that Cart will display.

Here you can add saved items to your Shopping Cart and then checkout or delete them from your Saved Cart.

Another feature of Saved Carts is the ability to edit a Folder or Cart Name and add notes about a Folder or Cart.  Simply select the edit folder or edit cart button to rename and add notes.  When done select Save.

If you wish to Delete a Folder or Cart select edit and Delete Folder or Cart.  Please note your Folder and Cart will be permanently deleted from all records!

Wish Lists

Log into your account and add items to your Wish List by clicking on the Add to Wish List button by the product.

When viewing your account information you can view your Wish List items by clicking on the Wish List tab. Share the items you want by sending an email of your Wish List. To do this, select the check box of the items you want to email, then enter in the recipient’s email address and the Wish List Title and click Send. 

Add items to your current Shopping Cart by clicking the Add to Cart button by the product you wish to add or the Add all to Cart button at the bottom of the page. Products added to your cart will remain in your Wish List. Remove items from your Wish List by selecting the check box of the items you want to remove, then clicking on Remove Selected Items at the bottom of the page. If you want to remove all the items in your Wish list, you can delete them all by clicking on Remove All Items at the bottom of the page.

How To Order

Brownells.com allows you to add products to your shopping cart on product and SKU pages. Enter the quantity (Qty) that you want to order and click Add to add the item(s) to your shopping cart. After products have been added to your shopping cart the View Cart in the upper right hand corner will display the number of item(s) in your cart. Click View Cart in the upper right hand corner to see the item(s) in your cart and start the checkout process.

One-Rate Program
We'll ship anywhere in the lower 48 states for just $15.95. Choose from UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, or Priority Mail. Add as many items as you need to your order-it's still just $15.95! These rates do not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, where packages can only be shipped Parcel Post Air or UPS 2nd Day Air.

Note: If you select priority mail, and your order weighs more than 5 pounds, the cost will be $27.95.

There are a small handful of products that don't fall under our One-Rate Program.

Small Package Rate
Lightweight orders (less than 13 ounces) can be delivered First Class through the United States Postal Service (USPS) for only $7.95 to a P.O. Box.

FedEx Smart Post
We are also doing Smart Post shipping for low-weight residential shipping. Must use a physical address, not a P.O. Box for this method of shipping. Maximum weight is 70 lbs; maximum length and girth is 130 inches. Delivery time is about the same as standard USPS shipping and delivery.

2nd Day Air Delivery
Have your entire order shipped 2nd Day Air for $27.95, shipping via UPS or FedEx. This option is unavailable for ORM-D (Other Regulated Materials-Domestic), aerosol, and hazardous products. ORM-D, aerosol and hazardous products have carrier restrictions and can only be shipped Ground. Here is a list of products that do not qualify under the 2nd Day Air One-Rate Plan.

2nd Day orders must be placed by 1 pm, CST Monday - Friday, to ensure prompt delivery.

Next Day Air Delivery
Have your entire order shipped Next Day for $43.95, shipping via UPS or FedEx. This option is unavailable for ORM-D, aerosol, and hazardous products. ORM-D, aerosol and hazardous products have carrier restrictions and can only be shipped Ground. Some products do not qualify under the One-Rate Next-Day-Air Plan.

Next Day orders must be placed by 1 pm, CST Monday - Friday, to ensure prompt arrival.

Saturday Delivery
Saturday Delivery is $20.00 and is only available for orders placed between 1 pm Thursday and 1 pm Friday, CST; shipping via UPS or FedEx. To find out whether Saturday delivery is available in your area contact CustomerSupport@brownells.com.

Truck Shipments
Truck shipments are contracted primarily through Roadway. Certain bluing kits and other heavy items are only deliverable by Truck, either because they're too heavy or because they are considered hazardous. Please call if you have any questions about your shipment or about Roadway.

Since truck charges vary from order to order, please contact us at 800-741-0015 to receive a shipping charge quote. Truck shipments will come to you Delivery Charges Collect, meaning you pay the shipping charges directly to the truck driver. Truck shipments cannot go COD.

*1 - We will e-mail you the total amount (shipping, COD charges, and merchandise) so you can have a cashier's check or money order made out to Brownells in advance for the driver.

*2 - In order to pay COD Personal Check (or company check) you need to complete, and return, a COD Check Approval Form. The form requests banking and financial information that we will verify. Processing takes 14 business days, so make sure to plan ahead.
 
 
Back Order Shipping
If part of your shipment is backordered, you won't be charged for additional shipping on the backordered item(s). Although, if the only item you ordered was backordered, you will be charged our One-Rate amount for shipping at the time the order is shipped ($13.95 unless overweight, or hazardous). The unexpected receipt of backorders can make COD payment inconvenient for you; therefore out-of-stock items will be cancelled or marked Notify if you have specified COD as your payment method.

If your order has backordered items you have two options:

  1. Have the item(s) sent immediately to you after Brownells has received it. You will pay shipping only on the original order.
  2. This option only available by calling in, not available on the website. Receive notification from Brownells that the product is in, at which time, you decide if you still need the product. If you choose to be Notified, you will be issued a notification number with your e-mail confirmation. Next time you call in, give your notification number to order the item. We will reserve the item(s) with your notification number for 7 days. Shipping will be billed on your new order.

Additional Fees and Regulations to Consider
 

  • All COD orders have an additional $16.00 fee.
  • A $27.50 hazardous fee per order delivered is charged by the shipping company. In addition, a hazardous item escalates the actual shipping costs from $13.95 to an amount the shipping company will determine. Below is an example if your order consisted only of one item, and that item is considered hazardous shipping:

    On the other hand, if you place an order with one hazardous item and one regular item, such as a new scope, the price configuration includes regular shipping costs as well. The shipping costs of this order would be as follows:

    Note: One-Rate Shipping for a non-hazardous item can be substituted for Next Day or 2nd Day at an additional cost if you prefer the non-hazardous item(s) arrive faster.
    FFL (Federal Firearms License) required purchases  have an additional $6.00 fee, because they are delivered as Adult Signature Required.

Receivers, actions, and frame sales require an FFL and are only allowed with the strictest adherence to federal regulations. Such orders will be held at Brownells until we verify your FFL is on file.

FFL requirements are as follows:

  1. It must be a current, certified-copy with an original signature in ink!
  2. If it has been changed or altered in any way it will be considered invalid.
  3. FFL purchases will only be sent to the address on the FFL - no exceptions.
  4. We will keep your FFL on file until it expires, at which time you will need to send Brownells a renewed, certified copy.
 
Shipping Restrictions: One-Rate Shipping
A small handful of our products have been considered hazardous materials by the U.S. Government. This makes the delivery of such items challenging and little confusing at times; some shippers will ship one thing, while another won't, etc.

To help you understand, we have addressed some of the more common shipping restriction issues.
  • USPS will not deliver Bluing Salts or Oxynate #84™ - they must be sent FedEx Ground or UPS Ground.
  • USPS restricts shipment of all ORMD and all hazardous materials. Examples include: Amer-Lene, Bluing Salts, Cold Blues (32 oz. or larger), Hydrochloric Acid, Paint Remover, Parkerizing (gallons), and a few more.
  • ORMD and hazardous materials will only travel UPS or FedEx and require an additional $20.00 hazardous fee.
Note: Hazardous materials and ORMD products can only be sent ground (they can never go 2nd Day or Next Day, because these services involve air-delivery). However, let's say you were ordering Bluing Salts and a scope. Our shippers will automatically split your order into two: One consisting of the restricted shipping item and another consisting of the regular item. Unfortunately this generates two sets of shipping charges. If the regular item is urgent, you may have it delivered 2nd Day or Next Day, while the Bluing Salts will remain ground. We realize this is confusing and expensive. Below are illustrated scenarios.

Ammo Restrictions
WARNING
You must be 18 or older to purchase shotgun or rifle ammunition and 21 or older to purchase handgun ammunition. All ammunition must be shipped Domestic Ground. Shipping not available for International, DC, and MA residents. Residents of CA, DE, IL, NY and OH, may have additional restrictions. Always make sure you use the correct ammunition for your firearms. Check your state and local laws for any other applicable firearms and ammunition regulations.

We cannot ship ammunition to the following:

Pay by Credit Card
Brownells accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. When you fill out step 4 of the checkout process, please provide your card number, expiration date, and your name (as it appears on the card).

Pay by COD (Cash on Delivery)
COD payment of web orders is also available. UPS, FedEx, and the USPS all offer COD service. COD charges are $16.00 per order. UPS and FedEx will only accept money orders or cashier’s checks for payment (NO CASH). However, the USPS DOES accept cash, along with money orders and cashier’s checks.

If you are interested in paying by personal or company check, you need to fill out and apply for a COD Check Approval Form. Processing takes up to 14 days though, so plan ahead if this is an option you’d like to pursue.

A cashier’s check from a bank or a money order from an authorized source is also acceptable. Please make them payable to Brownells.

Brownells Gift Certificate
Yes you can! All you need to do is follow two easy steps: First, place your order and go to checkout. Second, enter your gift certificate authorization number on step 2 of the checkout process. To help you keep track of your gift certificate balance, we will update it in your e-mail order confirmation.
