Front/Std Rear Sight Set

I mounted the front on both a DPMS quad rail and a Brownell's Modular gas block. On both rails the overall height of the sight was the same as the standard A2. After reading the other review I went and measured to make sure.

Some things I noticed that kept me from giving these a 5 are:
They are not spring loaded (pop up). The rear does not have notches for windage adj (it clicks like an A2 though). The lock down nut is a bit big/long. The rear has windage only meaning you have the front for elv.

I do think that these sights are a great value. They lock securely in both positions and are MUCH cheaper than other flip ups on the market (I recently paid more for just a pop up rear than for the Brownell's set). They lock down securely on the rails and the finish is good. The rear peep is thick and not likely to bend or break.

If you plan to use these as backups to a scope or dot you will not be disappointed. If you intend to use them as your primary sights you may want to keep looking.

Overall they are a great deal on a rugged usable set of flip up sights.

The build quality is good, however, the front sight post was not tall enough for my Stag 3H upper assembly with the Stag gas block. I switched the post to a Bushmaster extended sight post and it still could use a taller sight post (I use the 50/200 yard zero if it matters). I read a forum post that had somebody with similiar problems on an Armalite upper. I called Brownells tech department when I got the set last fall and they do not realize there is a problem and blamed it on the upper.

The rear sight quality is great for a budget simple backup sight but finish on the rear sight has a shine which reflects back in some lighting conditions. The front sight could use a lock but it's decent for the price. The main problem is the height issue. I am not able to tell if the height issue is with the rear sight or front sight.

The rating lost 1 star for the non-locking front sight and the rear sight reflecting light, and 2 stars for the height issue. I would recommend the sight set if Brownells fixed the height issue. I actually still like the sight set but it bothers me the front sight post is turned out as high as it is.
