Applies just enough pressure on the tap for precise centering and perfectly square threads. Just install in your lathe tailstock, drill press, or mill spindle, and align the point of the tap guide with the small hole at the end of the tap wrench. Adjust the tailstock or travel to remove all free-play between guide, tap wrench with installed tap, and pre-drilled hole. As you cut the threads by hand, the tap guide’s internal spring keeps steady pressure on the tap to prevent misalignment or jumping the threads. Fully adjustable spring tension allows fine-tuning the amount of pressure on the tap. Knurled bottleneck provides a non-slip grasp. Reversible guide tip fits male or female tap wrench hole.
