Tightening a Flash Hider
- Shannon Jennings, gunsmith Coal Creek Armory, Knoxville, TN
If you use an AR-15 armorer's wrench to tighten a flash hider and you are using a crush washer, the wrench may bind. The tail end of an A2 flash hider is shorter than the wrench is thick. If you need to turn the flash hider much to align it, the wrench may get pinched between the shoulder of the flash hider and the crush washer. Thinning that section of your armorer's wrench to about .340" will prevent the problem.
