Brownells Acquires Peace River Arms
Brownells, the world’s leading distributor of gunsmithing tools,
equipment and firearms accessories, has expanded its exclusive
line of professional gunsmithing products with the purchase of
Peace River Arms. In keeping with its 60-plus year tradition of
offering the product selection gunsmiths, collectors and shooters
want, Brownells acquisition guarantees that the popular Peace
River Arms products will remain readily available to the firearms
industry.
A supplier to Brownells prior to the purchase, Peace River Arms
manufactured patented molded, fiberglass-reinforced
Zytel® nylon vise blocks for the popular AR-15 and
M16 rifles. The Upper
Receiver Action Block folds around and protects both
carry-handle, and standard flat-top, AR-15/M16 upper receivers
when they’re clamped in a bench vise for installing or removing a
barrel. The Lower
Receiver Vise Block fits into the AR-15/M16’s magazine
housing and provides a surface to clamp a bench vise, instead of
the fragile lower receiver, when doing assembly/disassembly,
fitting or maintenance work.
Brownells purchased Peace River Arms from company founder
Ray Wheeler, who based the company in Lakeland, Fla. Wheeler
has since retired from the industry. “Peace River Arms is a highly
regarded brand with gunsmiths,” said Pete Brownell, vice
president of Brownells. “When we heard that Ray was looking to
retire, it just seemed natural that we would take over production
of the Peace River Arms products. We had been their largest
distributor for years, and their vise blocks are a great fit with the
other gunsmithing products Brownells already produces. The
purchase keeps two very useful products alive and serving
gunsmiths.”
Brownells is the world’s largest supplier of firearms
accessories, gunsmithing tools and specialty equipment for
professional and amateur gunsmiths. Since 1939, Brownells has
provided gunsmiths, collectors and shooters with selection, service
and satisfaction that are unmatched in the industry. Today,
Brownells stocks more than 29,000 items to accessorize, repair,
protect and preserve firearms. The company’s catalog, now
available in print and online versions, is the largest and most
comprehensive available in the gunsmithing field. For more
