ABOUT THE PARTS AND NECESSARY
ALTERATIONS.
- USRA
#830A0270 has had a dimensional change to the
shape of the sleeve lock, this was done in 1994. Also USRA
is now phasing
the chrome moly part out and using #830A0280 which is
stainless steel.
- USRA
#1900A0620, 1900A0630 Extractor from classic
control feed. The undercut that engages the extractor is
slightly different
than Pre 64. If using Springfield or Enfield and P.M. Ent.
collars,
metal will have to be removed to thin up hook where it
engages extractor.
Part is made by powdered metal process.
- #8517NS,
USRA #4910A0540 is 1/16" shorter than
Pre 64 screw. This is used in current model 70 Ranger with
blind magazine.
#27517, USRA #4910A2000 is 3/16" shorter than Pre
64 screw, this
is used in most current model 70 rifles.
- These parts
are sold only to gunsmiths.

#4130A0230 has been changed to include serations
on pin head to press into receiver.
- #8217, USRA
#6550A0070, trigger shoe is wider than
Pre 64, so can be thinned to 1/4" to go through Pre 64
Guard Bow.
- #8817, USRA
#6400A0260, trigger spring is much heavier
than Pre 64, will only be able to adjust down to Approx. 5#
trigger
pull.
- #28117,
USRA #6601A0410, trigger guard is 7/10"
wide, Pre 64 guard bow is only 6/10" wide so stock
inletting will
have to be opened up considerably. Also, opening up notch
in magazine
box to clear the wider guard.
- #4317, USRA
#3151A0340, magazine cover will have to
be shortened where it meets guard. Also hinge plate is
wider, longer,
thicker than Pre 64, requiring inletting of stock. Also will
have to
open up notch in front of magazine box to
clear.
- #5917,
restricted to warranty stations only, not
sold to consumers. Also part was redesigned about
1994.
- #4910A2280, USRA has
changed type of head.
New head
is oval and thin, whereas Pre 64 was flat and
thick.
